EcoDrop: artificial rain for dry areas
Every year, millions of people suffer the consequences of drought and the scarcity of drinking water. EcoDrop is an invention designed to generate controlled artificial rain in regions where it does not rain for months. It uses atmospheric condensation technology and drones to release water vapor in specific areas of the sky, helping to create micro-rains that nourish the land and save crops. Our goal is to provide an ecological, scalable, and accessible solution that helps combat desertification and ensure access to water.

How does EcoDrop work?
EcoDrop combines two technologies: high-precision drones and steam generators powered by solar energy. The drones position themselves over previously selected areas and release small amounts of hot water vapor at high altitude. This vapor, in contact with particles of dust or sea salt that have been previously released, generates small water droplets that form clouds and produce light rain. The entire system is automated and is controlled from an application that analyzes the humidity, temperature, and wind of the target area.

Environmental impact and benefits
The use of EcoDrop can improve the quality of life in rural communities affected by climate change, allowing for more consistent crops and sustainable access to water. Being powered by solar panels, its operation does not emit polluting gases. Additionally, its planned use prevents the over-exploitation of aquifers or rivers. In the long term, it helps to prevent desertification and to restore dry ecosystems.

Why did we choose this invention?
Our group decided to focus on the water problem because it is a vital resource that many people still do not have guaranteed. We wanted to design something that was not only useful but also feasible to implement in low-resource countries. EcoDrop is an idea that combines science, nature, and technology to help the planet without harming it. Additionally, we researched similar real inventions and were inspired to improve the idea with more sustainable elements.
